The Spain Boarding Schools offer education from the early age of 4 months to 18 years old.

Primary Years Program is for students from 3 to 11 years old, developing the childrens’ skills in the various areas.

Middle School program will follow for 5 years for students from 11 to 16 years-old, developing skills for the next step.

Upper School will make students achieve their IB Diploma offering an excellence preparation for entering in the University.

Boarding Schools approach the same subjects as regular schools but go deeper, providing a bilingual learning – Spanish, English – and making sure their students take the best of their extracurricular time, investing in activities as music, drama, sports and technology among others.

To apply to a Boarding School in Spain, the school will request transcripts from previous years and documents from the child and parents.

Undergraduate

There are 76 universities in Spain and even though it will be possible to find some English taught programs it is highly recommended that the students have a minimum knowledge of Spanish.

A bachelor’s degree in Spain will be completed in 4 years and in order to successfully finish it the students must present a dissertation.

A big advantage of applying to a Spanish university is the possibility of doing the selectividad exams and raise your average up to 4 points.

Masters

After completing a bachelor’s degree, you will be ready to move forward to a master’s degree and get specialized in your field of interest.  Typically, a master has the duration of 4 semesters.

Why

Undergraduate studies (Bachelor) in Spain are called grados and have a duration of 4 years, you can do a bachelor in most of areas in Spain, being the most common the Bachelor of Arts & Humanities, Sciences, Business Law, Engineering and Social Law. Students typically continue their studies for a Master but they ready to face the work world after their Bachelor.

Requirements can vary regarding the school and the course chosen, however there are some requirements that every student must fill when applying:

Accommodation

Whatever program you decide to do, you can choose from different types of accommodation:

Boarding

If you choose a boarding school, you will live at the school you are studying.

Family stays or Homestays

You will be living at vacant rooms offered by local families either for short terms or for a full academic year.

University Hall of Residence

These are usually located on campus, so within minutes of the Institution. Students on the first year tend to choose this option.

Private Halls

These are purpose-built student living accommodation, similar to university halls of residence, but owned by private companies who run and manage them. They are often in a central location and have all the mod cons required in student living, however they are often the most expensive option. It is important to find out what is included in your rent.

Private Accommodation

University students, especially the ones doing a master’s program choose this option. You can rent a whole apartment and share it with your friends, or just rent a student room.

Visa Requirements

If you are an EU/EEA student, you won’t need a visa to study in Spain.

If you are an international student you will need to obtain a visa, and the type if visa will depend on the program you choose to do.

Fees and Funding

Boarding Schools:

Boarding schools in Spain can be less expensive than other countries as UK and USA and the fees can vary between 5000€ to 33000€ depending on the extras chosen and if you are a day or boarding student.

Undergraduate

The tuition fee system in Spain is calculated per credit, this means that students will have to pay depending on the cost per credit the university sets. Normally for a first timer in an undergraduate degree in a public university the cost per credit will vary between 12-30€ credit. Normally this degree has 60 ECTS credits per year the average for the annual tuition fee is 1800€. This value can vary if you are not a European student.

Postgraduate

Regarding the costs of a Master’s degree it will follow the ETCS credit system as well and the average of the annual tuition fees in a public university will be 2700€, varying the cost per credit between 16 – 45€. As mentioned before, this value may be higher for non-European students.
